PORTER STREET

When the owners bought this large property adjacent to Rock Creek Park, it had been vacant for years. The house had fallen into disrepair and the grounds were completely overgrown. The goal in the restoration was to create a parklike setting to spotlight the many mature trees and the proximity to the Park and the native plant world. The owners added an addition with a screened porch and stone terraces that offer an opportunity to be immersed in nature. Plantings of mature screening evergreen trees screen out nearby roads and other houses while planting beds offer a variety of flowering plants which bloom throughout the year.
